Southmead Quiz Donates to the Southmead Festival & Community Pot

Our Southmead Quiz Night has been running for over two years now and all the proceeds go into a community pot.

We hold the quiz at the United Reformed Church on Wigton Crescent, which is just around the corner from the Southmead Health Centre.  We normally meet on the last Friday of the month from 7pm-9pm.

The entrance fee is £3, and you get unlimited tea/coffee and nibbles. There is also a raffle and the whole evening is full of laughs.

One question asked was “what is a naturally occurring common disaster”, to which my husband replied “marriage”.  He slept with the dog that night!

This year we have decided to split the pot into four good causes in Southmead which will receive £125 each.

  • The Ranch (Southmead Adventure Playground)
  • The Southmead Festival
  • Southmead Community Centre
  • St Stephens Church Clock Fund

We want the money raised to fund free activities for children in the area which is really important to us.  And I think that you will agree that having the clock tower working at St Stephens would benefit the whole community.  When we were little, my mum would give us thirty minutes to get to Arnside and back and she would wait on Pen Park Road to cross us over safely.  None of us had watches (there was seven of us and no money) so the clock tower was our guide to how much time we had left.

Our next quiz night will be on Friday 22nd September from 7-9pm and we would love you to join us!

If you’d like to find out more about the quiz, and all things Southmead Community, do come along to the next Team Southmead meeting on Tuesday 25th July, at St Stephen’s Church, 11am-1pm.
