By signing up to this website and submitting content, you are confirming you have read and agree to the following polices.

Editorial Policy

You own everything you post on The Mead BS10. This also means submitting your own content, or content you have permission to post – submitting stolen or plagiarized content will result in your account being banned.

We reserve the right to amend spelling or grammatical errors, but we will not change the meaning of the text.

We will share what you post across our social networks, and your content (if especially good!) may end up in the print edition of the magazine. By submitting content to the website, you agree you are happy with this.

We will generally post things uncensored. However, we will not post anything that: is an attack on an individual or his/her privacy or something that strives to be offensive or inflammatory for its own sake.

We reserve the right to exercise our editorial judgment and reject any content at any time for any reason.

Privacy Policy

When you sign up to the website, we ask for a username, email address and password, as well as your agreement to this document. We collect this data so that you can use the website – e.g. add news articles, events and other content.

When you add news articles to the website, it will be tied to your username and be publicly viewable. If you upload images alongside your written content, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Should you contact us via our contact form, we will temporarily collect your name and email address. We only keep contact form submissions for a certain period to action your request, and we do not use the information submitted for marketing.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We will not in any circumstances give or sell your details to any third party. Your email address is solely used for signing up to the website, or, if you opt in, to receive our newsletter.

How long we retain data and your rights over data

If you add content to the website, such as a news article, it will appear indefinitely unless you ask for their removal (see below). Any contact form submissions will be kept for a short period, i.e. until they have been actioned.

If you wish to delete your account at any time, please contact us. We will delete your account and confirm this has been actioned via email. Should you delete your account, any articles you have posted to the website will still exist, but will be anonymized, i.e. no longer tied to your email/username. If you wish to delete a specific piece of content, please contact us before deleting your account.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Analytics

We collect some anonymous analytics data via Google Analytics. This is to help us improve our website.

Complaints Policy

If you have a complaint, you must use the contact formWe cannot reply to complaints sent via any other channel (i.e. Facebook).

Please detail your grievance and provide your contact details. We will look into this as a matter of urgency and strive to contact you within 72 hours.
