Shipshape Stories and Family Activities at Southmead Library this June

Join the team from Brunel’s SS Great Britain at Southmead Library on Saturday 8 June for a free drop-in event, from 11am to 3pm.

Residents are invited to come and discover what life was like for the passengers and crew that travelled on board our city’s famous ship. From sensory storytelling to Victorian games and costume, there’s a whole range of things to do for parents and children alike throughout the event.

·        Find out how children entertained themselves on board and create your own Victorian game:

  •       Learn about how the ship was built and try your hand at riveting ‘iron plates’!
  • Immerse yourself in life on board with Victorian clothes to try on, handling objects and mystery smells from the ship

With activities happening 11am-3pm, families are welcome to arrive at any time.

This fun-filled morning and afternoon is part of a larger series of community events with Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Look out for future events at a library or community centre near you!
