On Thursday 2nd May there are two elections taking place in Bristol, all local councillors and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).
To take part you need to register to vote. The easiest way to do that is online HERE. However if you need support to register online you can visit your local library or Bristol City Council’s Citizen Service Point at 100 Temple Street, BS1 6AG. To vote on the 2nd May, you must be registered by Tuesday 16th April.
There are three ways to vote:
- at the polling station – in person at only the polling station stated on your poll card, between 7am and 10pm on polling day.
- using a postal vote – you can apply for a postal vote at HERE. The deadline for an amended or new postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 17th April.
- via proxy voting – where someone can vote on your behalf either at a polling station or by post. You can find out more and apply at HERE. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 24th April.
If you vote at a polling station you will need to show Voter ID to cast your vote at a polling station. You may already have an accepted form of photo ID such as a passport or driving licence, however there are variety of different photo IDs that can be used. The full list is on HERE. If you need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate because you do not have photo ID, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 24th April.
