Please Vote By Friday For Southmead At The ‘Voscurs’

Our Community has been nominated for four ‘Voscur’ Awards this year in recognition for the great community work for all.  Still we need your vote in order to show how cohesive our community really is! These are the four awards we can actually earn with your help and you can also find the links that will allow you to vote on each one:

Community Venue of the Year Award 2016: The Southmead Community Centre is a busy community centre on Greystoke Avenue in the heart of Southmead.  This year the organisation is working towards creating a new facility that meets the modern needs of the community, and with it delivering an ambition of the community plan.  This award will be decided by public vote – to cast your vote click here

Happy, Healthy Bristol Award 2016: The Healthy Alternatives service, run by Southmead Development Trust, is a pilot project to deliver social prescribing using a member of staff and volunteers to ‘prescribe’ clients a way of improving their own lives and health. The project has made partnerships with a number of activity groups, and even initiated its own group, to meet needs of clients and to deliver a holistic service. This award will be decided by public vote – to cast your vote click here

Trustee of the Year 2016: Marion Baynes exemplifies what it means to be a good trustee – offering passion about the cause and connecting the charity to other groups and projects. As a resident and worker in the local area for over 30 years, Marion is still willing and able to get involved on the frontline, volunteering at the Southmead Festival and in our Community Café. This award will be decided by public vote – to cast your vote click here

Thanks for Supporting the Sector 2016: Natalie Bailey, Health Promotion Practitioner, is a key supporter and connector of the third sector within Southmead. Not only does she offer strategic support from her position working in Public Health, helping to develop services and activities within the context of our community, she also spends time supporting individual workers and volunteers to ensure they achieve their aims.

The winners will be announced the 2nd November 2016. The information will be available on this site, and we wish the best luck to all nominees.
