Orchard School’s fabulous musical production of Bugsy Malone was a huge success, with full houses on both evenings of performance.
The show, with a cast of more than 40 students, supported by staff and professional musicians, delighted the audiences with the story of man-about-town Bugsy Malone, love and gangsters in 1920s New York.
The show includes several well-loved songs and our production featured a 4-part live band.
Led by staff Giles Butcher, Aimee Green, Flo Wood and Leah Collier-Standfield, the show gave opportunities in signing, dancing and acting as well as the behind the scenes tech team.
Student leaders supported the performance with programme sales and refreshments.
Students were rehearsing for several months, including after-school sessions.
Head of performing arts Mr Butcher said: “We have some exceptional talent at Orchard School and a show like Bugsy Malone was a perfect vehicle for singers, dancers and actors.”
Already students are looking forward to next year’s show … watch this space!
