April has been an eventful month for the Glencoyne Square project. As one of the first community-led housing projects of its kind to begin in the UK, the project always attracts lots of interest.
At the beginning of this month, we had a visit from the Urban Planning Masters students at UWE. They visit us most years to learn about the project and offer us their advice on some of the most challenging aspects of the scheme.
While at Greenway Centre, the students volunteered to do some maintenance activities for us, like painting the radiators in the main hall, weeding in the car park, and litter picking around the grounds – a huge thanks to them all.
On April 24th, we were delighted to get the news that our application had been approved by Bristol City Council to reduce level of the buildings on Glencoyne Square from five levels to four. Now we can submit applications for the approval of the latest designs our consultants produced after the community design consultations that took place in 2024. We will also be submitting applications to say that we have met the planning conditions relevant for this stage of the project, given to us by the Council Planning department
If you have any questions about the project, as usual, do not hesitate to contact us – email: info@southmead.org, tel: 0117 950 335, and click to our website HERE
