Were you at last month’s fantastic Southmead Festival? What a great day we all had. The weather was perfect (warm, not over hot) and The Mead Olympic races got off to a flying start with ‘Southmeadals’ being presented to competitors for taking part.
The Mead Olympics have continued during summer play sessions at Southmead Adventure Playground (The Ranch) so there are many more ‘meadal’ winners to come! Take a look at The Ranch’s Facebook page for the Olympian stars of tomorrow in the making.
Did your little ones have a free donkey ride at the Festival, or visit the Petting Zoo? Did you take part in The Mead Olympic Games such as the assault course, the exercise fiesta, badminton, table tennis, footy shoot-out, or gaming in the Youth Tent? Did you enjoy the wonderful shows on the Community Performance stage such as Esme Doll, the Jump Street Brass Band, DWild, Bristol4Tibet, Maroon Fist, Dan Ratchet reggae, or the Greenway Singers? Many residents said it was the best Southmead Festival yet with a lovely family vibe.
All the superb activities and performances were made possible by our generous sponsors – thank you to everyone below for donating. And to all the local shops and businesses who donated prizes for Shirley’s Big Festival Raffle; thank you to volunteer Shirley Neville (Southmead’s Raffle Queen) for such a bright and brilliant prize draw.
The photos from the day have now been gathered in and can be found in a special gallery HERE – do take a look at the fun and see if you can spot yourself or anyone you know.
Massive thanks to everyone who helped to put on the Festival, especially to our volunteers, staff, and partners – Bristol Beacon, Bristol Refugee Festival, Bristol Family Hubs, Travelling Kitchen, The Green House, Raised in Bristol, Bristol Waste, Bristol Energy Network, and our local Police team.
We hope to see you next year for another super summer extravaganza – please watch this space for details of Southmead Festival 2025.
Thank you to our sponsors:
