On Monday 29th October, a brand new state of the art playground was installed at Fonthill Primary Academy, Ascot Road. Mrs Absalom, the headteacher agreed to spend over £46000 for the spectacular structure. It was built to improve children’s balance, agility and coordination.
The School Council (made up from two children from each Key Stage 2 class) made an important decision in deciding the best design from a choice of three. All the children in KS2 voted for the best one. The winning playground won by eighty-five votes. The company who installed it are called Playforce. It was anticipated it would take two weeks but it took longer as they needed to add another layer of protection, but it was worth it as the new playground is amazing.
Miss Pestell, a Fonthill teacher, commented. “I wish I was back in KS2 so I could go on it!”
Nathan Steadman, a Y4 pupil, exclaimed, “When I’m on the climbing frame, I feel like a spider.”
Fonthill now has excellent play facilities and Mrs Absalom expressed that she is relieved that the playground has finally been built.
