An exciting opportunity for volunteers in Southmead has just been announced. The Reader, a UK wide arts charity, is setting up a new Shared Reading group at the Greenway Centre and we are looking for people to train and support to lead the group. If you love books and enjoy meeting people, we would love to hear from you.
Shared Reading is a chance for people to meet up and listen to and read great stories and poems. It brings people together and helps them to connect, talk about things in new ways and have a good time. During the pandemic we have kept going on phone, Zoom and by writing letters, and now it’s time to get back together, safely.
There’s hundreds of groups all over the country and a new one will start soon at the Greenway Centre. Group leaders are given full training and support, and being a Reader Leader can be very rewarding and stimulating.
