A Right Old Hoo-Haa in Southmead!

Bristol Beacon, Bristol’s largest music venue, is proud to reveal it is bringing its annual children’s festival Hoo-Ha! to the organisation’s Southmead home, Beacon Music Centre, for the first time.  It will be a free, one-day festival on Saturday 10th August.

Hoo-Ha! is a hullaballoo of family fun packed with music, dancing, and activities for little people and their families. For 2024, Bristol Beacon is holding a mini version of the festival in Southmead, as well as presenting the full festival at Bristol Beacon later in August.

Attendees of the Southmead edition of Hoo-Ha! can catch interactive shows from local festival favourites Kid Carpet, ICHI, and RSVP Bhangra.  Plus there will be plenty of hands-on activities such as craft with Let’s Make Art, exploring sound with Noisy Toys, and even crazy golf with Kiss My Put. There’s also lots more still to be announced.

Beacon Music Centre is Bristol Beacon’s base for creative learning located in Southmead on Stanton Road. Usually, the Centre hosts pre-booked lessons and activities, but for Hoo-Ha! will open to the public for this one-day event.

Julia Roderick, Head of Community Engagement at Bristol Beacon says: “We’re so excited to be throwing open the doors of Beacon Music Centre and welcoming in the Southmead community for this joyful celebration of music, play and creativity. We hope families can come along and make special memories together with us this summer.”

Matt Aitken, Artistic Programmer at Bristol Beacon adds, “We’re looking forward to introducing families, friends, and neighbours in Southmead to the organised chaos of Hoo-Ha! You can expect funny noises, silliness, and crafty fun both indoors and outdoors.”

Hoo-Ha! in Southmead takes place on Saturday 10th August at Beacon Music Centre, Stanton Road, BS10 5SJ. For full info visit HERE, or telephone: 0117 204 7140
